Skills & Ability System

Skills are unlocked with Ember Fragments earned from combat and chapter completion. There is only one skill currency across the whole game — no premium ability tier, no pay-to-unlock. The Battle Pass Premium track only accelerates cosmetic drops.

Every hero has three skill branches: a Combat branch (heavier attacks, longer parries), a Defense branch (armour, resistances, heals), and an Utility branch (movement, ember gain, drop rates). You can respec at any campfire without paying a fee.

Every hero unlocks a signature ultimate at chapter five. Kawa's Ember Aura briefly turns his hammer red-hot and grants a wide-arc cleave. Ember Warrior's Drum Charge stuns nearby enemies. Shieldbearer's Iron Wall reflects projectiles for a short window.

Because respec is free, we designed the skill tree to reward experimentation. Try a heavy-parry build on Boss Rush, then swap to a fast-attack build for Endless Arena — all your Ember Fragments stay with you.
