About The Legend of Kawa

The Legend of Kawa is a 2D browser Action-Adventure game built by a small independent team that believes games can be respectful art. The game draws from the ancient Kurdish–Persian legend of Kawa the Blacksmith, who rose against a tyrant of his time and turned a popular uprising into a symbol of freedom still celebrated today during Nowruz.

We build entertainment that fully respects Islamic values: no musical instruments (we only use lawful war drums), no detailed human faces that might drift into forbidden imagery, and no polytheistic or superstitious symbolism. We offer a respectful alternative for Muslim children, teens and families — without sacrificing combat quality, story depth or gameplay fun.

Twenty epic chapters with Arabic voice narration, four game modes (Story, Endless Arena, Boss Rush, Speedrun), a seasonal Battle Pass, a full character and weapon editor, a worldwide leaderboard tied to cloud accounts, full RTL support for Arabic and Kurdish plus English, and an admin CMS that lets us add heroes, enemies and quests without shipping new code.

React 19 on the front-end, FastAPI + MongoDB on the back-end, HTML5 Canvas for rendering, Web Audio API for sound, Emergent LLM for a few narrative generators, and ElevenLabs for select SFX. The game ships as a progressive web app (PWA), works offline after the first load, and syncs progress to the cloud via Google Sign-In.

We believe respectful content should be available to everyone. The game is entirely free. Players who wish to support us can do so through voluntary Pay-What-You-Want donations or by purchasing the premium Battle Pass for a symbolic $4.99, which helps us cover server bills and continued development.
